Wanna work at Google? Email me.

I'm serious.

If you are reading this weblog, you are probably the kind of developer Google would like to hire, so if you want to get a chance to work here, all you need to do is email me your résumé.

This offer is not limited to Java developers. C++, Python, C#, Windows, Linux, etc... all are welcome. Also, Mountain View and New York City are not our only offices, check out our Web site if you want more details.

Here are the rules:

  • It's okay if I don't know you. You are welcome to write a few lines to introduce yourself if you feel like it, but ultimately, your résumé is the only thing that counts.

  • Please don't send me a Word document. If I don't know you, I'm not going to click on your .doc. Attach your résumé as a text file to your email or better, post it on a Web site and send me the URL.

  • Don't expect an answer or an acknowledgement from me. I am not quite sure what kind of response this post will receive, but I can't promise I'll have time to respond personally to each of you.
On my end, I promise I'll take a hard look at your résumé and I'll pass it on to the relevant people at Google. Nothing more, nothing less.

That's all.

As for my email address, let's just say that figuring it out will be your first interview question, but please use this mailto link so I can identify your email by its Subject.

Don't be shy!

Update: If you don't live in the US, please specify in your email what office (e.g. Zurich) you would like to work in.

Update 2 :  This offer does not expire in time.  If you are reading it months after I initially posted it, feel free to email me your résumé anyway.

Update 3 :  Google just opened a new office in Kirkland, Washington.

What about people outside US?

Posted by: saoyer at September 23, 2004 02:51 AM

Wish i could apply from outside the us.

Posted by: Bart at September 23, 2004 04:02 AM

Outside the US here too...

Posted by: Daniel Serodio at September 23, 2004 06:38 AM

If I thought I had even the remotest chance of getting a job at Google, I'd apply. I can imagine it's probably the coolest place on earth to work right now.

Luckily for me, Atlassian's a pretty cool place to work too, because I rather doubt my resume would stack up. :)

Posted by: Charles Miller at September 23, 2004 06:49 AM

which email address do you want us to use?

Posted by: JCarlson at September 23, 2004 06:59 AM

I updated the weblog entry for people outside the US.

Posted by: Cedric at September 23, 2004 07:10 AM

By "which email address do you want us to use?" I do not mean to ask what your email address is, I mean to ask which of your email addresses would you like us to use - personal, work, junk, etc?

Posted by: JCarlson at September 23, 2004 07:22 AM

Somebody's going to get some nice referral bonuses ;-)

Aren't the non-US offices simply sales offices?

If I thought google had canadian development offices (in, say, Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal, maybe Halifax), I would have considered applying to
them long ago. ;)

Posted by: Geoffrey Wiseman at September 23, 2004 12:18 PM

http://www.google.com/corporate/address.html

Unfortunately, Seattle is only sales (so far;)

Posted by: fx at September 23, 2004 05:14 PM

I actually sent in my resume about 9 months ago. They sent me an email about a week later and said they didn't have anything for me.

Posted by: Nobody at September 23, 2004 05:21 PM

Google, you really should hire Nobody... he's perfect!

Posted by: at September 23, 2004 11:56 PM

One more question about people from outside US.
Do you know if it's possible for google Inc. to employ foreigners? I mean there is no office in my country, and I'm considering about move to somewhere else.
Thank you in advance.

Posted by: Rammi at September 24, 2004 05:44 AM

Any chance that Google's planning on opening a Portland development office? ;~)

Posted by: Thomas at September 24, 2004 05:55 AM

Posted by: UK at September 24, 2004 07:09 AM

C'mon people. I love where I live right now too (Rocky Mountains), but if lightning struck and Google were to offer me a job, I wouldn't be able to call the moving company fast enough.

Posted by: Jason at September 24, 2004 10:54 AM

Posted by: joelanders at September 24, 2004 09:02 PM

Must resist ... :-)

Posted by: Heiko W. Rupp at September 25, 2004 01:44 AM

Hmm no thanks I don't like cleaning toilets, and I am afraid my resume is unlikely to get me another job oppertunity at google :)

Posted by: at September 25, 2004 02:25 PM

I am just 14 years old and also I'm out of US... what can I do ??????????????????

Posted by: Sina Ranjbar at September 26, 2004 05:56 AM

I am 20 years old and I am writing from Spain (excuse me if my english is bad).
I have so much knowledge on php, sql, c, and other languages. Iam developing an OS now with a group of friends now.
I have many experience programming web based software:
- PHP web applications (medium and large size) with Mysql databases.
- XML web services.

What can I do?

Posted by: Óscar del Río at September 29, 2004 04:03 AM

> Aren't the non-US offices simply sales offices?

Yeah, I considered working for Google a long time ago, but their office in Atlanta is just sales. :(

Come on Google - you need to open up a dev office in the Silicon Valley of the South. :)

I don't think working at Google is the coolest thing right now. Google is loosing its appeal, and also loosing the battle with the spamers. Their neglect of metadata is taking its revenge right now, and although Google is hiring lots of NLP people the company has not figured out to really answer queries by combine information from multiple sources.
The catalog and froogle services are steps into the right direction, but Google need to go far beyond these simple types of information.

I noticed the hiring ad if someone searches for "Semantic Web" - but no community involvement of Google.

I am 17 years old and I have always wanted to work as a developer. I thrive on making a company expand even more. I would really want a job working for Google. I live in California which has the 5th largest economy and I really want to be apart of that growth. If possible send me an e-mail telling me how I can get started.

If for any reason I cant get this job can you please send me an e-mail with info on how I can get started by taking classes or doing anything to be apart of the Google team.

Thank you for this opportunity.

I emailed google my resume on yesterday (11/28/05), but would still very much like to speak with you. Especially considering I will not be available until May of 06.

Since a big part of Google is information, then why aren't there home-based jobs available? That would be ideal.
It doesn't seem too far fetched does it?

I agree working for Google seems to be the coolest thing as of now for all software engineering. But had it not been for their spirit, wouldnt Brin and Page be working for Microsoft/Yahoo which were the coolest places then for Grads?? I think we need to take some lessons from them ...cause if x->1 then x can never be equal to 1. Build a world of your own...God Bless

You people are sad. It would not be so bad that you are groveling at the feet of this man...but you insist upon not following directions or not reading his post. In it he explains that he wants to see your information in an email not in a post on his blog. Another thing I noticed was someone asked which email does Cedric want people to send thier resumes for a job to....work, personal, or junk...hmm...since this isn't obvious send it to junk. Finally, a multi-national corporation giving anything but a janitorial job to a 14 year old..lol

I wish for all of you to have a nice day.

I have had an upgrade about a week ago when typing an email. I now cannot get back on active x. I have tried everything but it won't work. I have been trying for days just to email someone at a help desk instead of trying to hunt and search for the answer that I need. I am about to change to yahoo as this is getting rediculuous. I realize that putting all the crap on help issues is easier for google but, it is not necessarily easier for their customers. If you could be of assistance I would greatly appreciate it. If not by, by google.
