Poll about my configuration

I recently changed the description configuration of my RSS feed.  It used to be a forty-word description of the whole entry, but it now displays the entire entry in rich content (HTML + CSS).  The problem is I am receiving complaints with either of these configurations:

  • Some people don't like the abbreviated description because it forces them to click to have access to the whole entry.

  • Some people tell me the new configuration doesn't work because not all RSS readers seem to automatically dereference the <link> tag of my RSS feed.

What should I do?  Revert to the forty-word description or keep it as it is?

What about providing two different RSS feeds?

Two feeds is a good idea. Personally, I prefer full content so I don't need to click through. The most aggregious is providing only a title and link (that would be the main reason why I am reading so much less Manageability these days).

Cédric,

Why don't you use a normal RSS 2 feed with a content:encoded tag in addition to the link tag?

Stick to RDF 1.0 and use the "content" module to provide a <content:encoded> element, as François said above. Eugene (Belyaev) already told in his blog how to do this.

Here's the link for it:

Would it kill you to provide both? I prefer the full feeds, but I'm quite sure there are those who would disgree.
