The Foundation reaches the coordinates of the Matter Source supplied by Pankha-Skrin, but the only thing they can find is an invisible barrier surrounding what seems to be a multidimensional bubble. Pucky manages to cross the barrier by accident thanks to a fermented alcohol he made, and which alters his mental frequencies.

Pucky first lands on a deserted world and on a second attempt, discovers a planet that seems to have once hosted a technological civilization. Pucky is guided back to the Base by the common mental call of the crew and soon returns on the planet on board a shuttle with Rhodan and a small crew.
