Inside the fortress, the Terrans discover a message left by Kemoauc, who explains that he used his knowledge gained in the Matter Sources in order to assemble the Drugun projector.

The Terrans conclude a pact with Jagur and resume their search for the seventh key. Jagur fixes the Drugun projector and restarts it, asking the Terrans to leave as the fortress is about to resume its final journey to the Matter Sources. Shortly after they are back on the Base, the Terrans see with consternation the fortress explode. The seventh key seems to be lost forever now.
